Indianapolis - Glenn Paul Koehring, 77, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 6, 2022. He was born February 28, 1945 in Indianapolis to the late Paul and Margaret Henderson Koehring. He was a 1963 graduate of Franklin Central High School. Additionally, he attended Purdue University and IUPUI where he earned a degree in electrical engineering and a doctorate in jurisprudence. Through the years, Glenn was employed by Con Ed, Indianapolis Power and Light, and Newark Electronics. He used his extensive education to work for many years in the field of contract law.
Glenn was a master craftsman in woodworking and stained glass. He liked to read, particularly James A. Michener novels. He developed great skills in investing and also was known to do some trap shooting. He delighted in the tradition of sharing bourbon slush, pretzel salad, and euchre tournaments at family gatherings. Glenn gave back to the community by singing in the bass section of the choir at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, where he was a member for many years. He mentored youth by coaching soccer, tutoring and being involved with the Boy Scouts of America.
Glenn cherished his family and spent as much time and energy as he could loving them. He and his wife Nancy taught their children how to love, even through struggle. His faith in God and his eternal love for his family always kept him going. He was extremely proud of his children, Daniel and Erica and their talents and successes. He was blessed with the joy of grandchildren, Nicholas Evan Koehring and Lyla Kaylynn Koehring. They loved spending time with their Grandpa.
Glenn is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Nancy Koehring. They were married at Nativity Catholic Church on December 20, 1975. He is also survived by his children, Daniel Evan Koehring and his wife Chelsea (Stoner) of Indianapolis and Erica Lynette Koehring of New York City.
Glenn's family will receive friends Saturday, December 17, 2022, from 1-3pm at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, 418 East 34th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46205. A memorial service will be conducted at 3 pm. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at Orchard Hill/New Bethel Cemetery in Wanamaker, Indiana. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, The Oaks Academy, or Gleaners Food Bank.
