INDIANAPOLIS – Freeman Lee Carrier Jr., 76, passed away at 8:51 AM on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Franciscan Health Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on March 12, 1947 to the late Freeman Lee Carrier and Margie Neil Goode in Danville, Kentucky.

Freeman graduated from Harry E. Wood High School in 1965 and attended Indiana State University (ISU) in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1965 and honorably served his country overseas in Korea. Freeman rose to the rank of Sergeant on October 27, 1967. While serving he received a National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged on May 24, 1968.

Freeman was united in marriage on January 11, 1969 to Jeanette Louise Riegel at a wedding chapel on Madison Avenue in Indianapolis, Indiana. Professionally, he worked as an electrician from 1967 – 2003 for the former National Starch and Chemical Company and retired after 36 years.

In his free time, Freeman enjoyed golfing and frequently going to the horse track. His favorite horse track to attend was Horseshoe Indianapolis in Shelbyville, Indiana where Freeman was well known. He was an avid Colts and Pacer fan. Freeman loved watching sports from morning to night. He cherished his family, especially his grandchildren who called him “Pap Pap”.

Freeman is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jeanette Louise Carrier; son, Terry Lee Carrier & his wife Nadine; grandchildren, Ryan Capps, Kylie Frink and Chet Allen Klave Jr.; and great grandchildren: Kinzie, Lane, Asher and Kora.

In addition to his parents, Freeman was preceded in death by his daughters, Lisa Marie Capps and Lori Lee Klave and granddaughter, Savannah Klave.
