INDIANAPOLIS – Frank Sabia, 89, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Envive Healthcare of Beech Grove. He was born on April 29, 1934 to the late Anthony and Rose (Gustina) Sabia in Columbus, Ohio.
Frank was inducted into the United States Army on September 13, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio. He was honorably discharged on September 12, 1956 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and was awarded the Parachute Badge. Professionally, Frank worked as the Interment Supervisor at Crown Hill Cemetery for 45 years. He was united in marriage on November 9, 1981 to Irene Napier in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Frank was an avid collector of guns and knives. In his leisure, Frank tinkered in his garage and worked on cars. He enjoyed watching westerns and taking vacations. Frank adored animals, especially his late beloved dog “Coco”. He loved his family immensely as well as his cowboy boots. Everyone knew Frank as organized, rambunctious, passionate and generous. He will be deeply missed.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Irene Sabia; son, Gary Smith & his wife Sheri; daughters, Sherry Hurst and Tammy Robinson; grandchildren: Heather Smith, Tiffany Hurst, Brittany Bell & her husband Thomas, Alex Hurst, Cody Bullock and Kaven Smith; and great grandchildren: Nathan, Aden, Emma, Nevaeh, Alayah, Thomas Jr., Penny and Forrest. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his siblings: Carmella, Matthew and Dave; stepfather, Denver; and grandson, Matthew Turner.
Frank’s friends and family may visit from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor Jimmy Southerland officiating. Burial will follow at Concordia Cemetery, 2703 South Meridian Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46225 with military rites.
