Evelyn Marie Calvan

Evelyn Marie Calvan, age 88, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, in Linton, Indiana. Born on May 18, 1936, in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the cherished daughter of Harry and Mary Glaser. Evelyn’s life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her compassionate service as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove.

Evelyn's legacy is defined not only by her profession but also by her passions and interests. She had a deep love for the great outdoors, finding joy in camping on the Ohio River and watching the barge maneuver equipment along the waterway, a sight she cherished throughout her life.

Evelyn was a devoted mother to her children: Mary England, Albert "Butch" Ellis, Sr., Frank Ellis, and Lonnie Calvan. Her legacy continues through her twelve grandchildren, as well as numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her spirit forward. She embraced each of her family members with an open heart and unyielding support.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lonnie Calvan, Sr., and her son, Jay Calvan. Additionally, she is reunited with her loving parents, Harry and Mary Glaser.

In honor of Evelyn’s life, friends and family are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home located at 925 E Hanna Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana, on March 13, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 PM. Evelyn will then be laid to rest during a graveside service at Round Hill Cemetery at 2:30 PM.

Evelyn Marie Calvan will always be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends.
