Eric L. Vorndran

Indianapolis - Eric L. "Rick" Vorndran, 69, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022, at his residence following an extended battle with cancer. He was born November 3, 1953 in Fort Wayne, IN to John and Eileen (Thieme) Vorndran, Jr. Rick was a 1972 graduate of South Side High School in Fort Wayne. He worked as an accountant for over 31 years, and retired from Kelley, Hardesty, Smith and Company in 2020.

Rick was an original member of the South Side Euchre Group which he helped facilitate from 2011 to 2020. He enjoyed going on long walks, playing games and was especially good at playing euchre. Rick was a dedicated worker who will be remembered as being a devoted friend to all. He married the love of his life, Kerry Ideman, on August 21, 2016. He loved all animals and had a special fondness for his pets, Maestro, Roddy and his cat Emmy who recently passed away this year. You could find Rick and Emmy taking well deserved naps together. More than anything, Rick will be remembered as a man who had a very sweet soul and loved his family and friends dearly.

Rick is survived by his wife, Kerry Ideman; 2 bonus sons, Gavin Ideman and Donovan Ideman; 2 sisters, Linda (husband Kurt) Kleinrichert and Gail (husband, Keith) Hill; brother, Tim (wife, Doris) Vorndran; twin brother, Tom (wife, Yolanda) Vorndran; 2 bonus granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 bonus daughters, Katelyn Ideman and Madison Ideman.

A funeral service celebrating Rick's life will take place at 12:00 pm, Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue Indianapolis, IN 46227. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 – 12pm prior to the service, Saturday at the funeral home.
