Ellen Rozalya (Greer) Wherry, age 70, passed away following an extended illness on Monday, June 19, 2023 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ellen was born October 23, 1952 in Aledo, Illinois, to the late Nellie Rose and Ernest Maynard Greer. She graduated from Broadview Academy in La Fox, Illinois in the class of 1970. She earned an A.A. degree from Blackhawk in 1972. She also graduated from the University of Memphis in 1999 with a B.A. in Communications. She married Greg Tschopp in 1973 and they later divorced. She married Ken Wherry on August 14, 1977 on the Monmouth College Campus in Monmouth, Illinois and they enjoyed 45 happy years together.
Ellen was a life-long member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was last employed at the Indianapolis Southside Christian Academy as a teacher. Things she loved: photography, being a Primary Sabbath School teacher, animals, Shetland ponies, cats, the beach and traveling. She went to Europe twice and to Canada. She had a pen pal in Fairbanks, Alaska who her family took her to meet in 1963. She played the saxophone and sang at church (she had a beautiful voice). She loved all of her family and friends dearly; she never forgot anyone she met, and always put others first. She was proud of attending the same high school as all of her lifelong family members.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ken Wherry; sister Karen Irene (Greer) Clough and brother-in-law Charlie Clough of Spring Hill, Kansas; sister-in-law Linda Greer of Tyler, Texas; nieces Jennifer Greer, Anita "Brandy" Greer, and Jessica Anderson, all of Tyler, Texas; her two great-nephews, Bridger and Eston Anderson; Aunt Iris Kruger of Ontario, Canada; Uncle Dick Doake of Round Lake Park, Illinois; and numerous cousins.
