Indianapolis - Eldiva Ann Spicer Smith, 81, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born June 16, 1940 in New Castle, IN to the late Roy and Annie Belle Summers Spicer. She graduated from New Castle Chrysler High School in 1958 and from the practical nursing program at Ivy Tech Richmond in 1990.
Eldiva served as a nurse at several nursing homes and at Community Hospital East. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, crocheting scarves for the homeless and going to the casino. She also loved travelling extensively around the country.
Eldiva was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles E. Smith; parents, Roy and Annie Belle Summers Spicer; and siblings: Edmond Spicer, Dennis Ivan Thomas, Kenneth L. Spicer, Elroy D. Spicer, Nila Spicer Miller and Hedy Joe Hale Wilson. She is survived by her daughters, Saundra A. Mullins and her husband, Bill and Melody D. Akers and her husband, Joe; sons, Clifford E. Smith and his wife, Beth and Charles M. Smith and his wife, Jennifer; sister, Elaine M. Spicer Pope; brother, Phillip E. Spicer; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Eldiva's life will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, she would like you to spend a day out with your loved ones.
