Duke D. Gibbons was born August 30, 1948, in Indianapolis. He passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, in his hometown. He was known for his honest and modest nature, which endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His fierce determination set an example for those around him, and his loyalty will be remembered fondly by family and friends alike.

 Duke devoted much of his life to his work as a truck driver and in lawn care, demonstrating his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his loved ones. Outside of his career, he cherished his hobbies, which included gardening and working on bicycles and vehicles. These interests were a testament to his hands-on approach to life and his desire to connect with the world around him.

 He was an avid fan of NASCAR, Star Trek and Star Wars. He loved decorating for holidays and spending time with his family. Additionally, his favorite things were coffee, Coca-Cola and chocolate covered cherries.

 Duke was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patty A. Gibbons, who was his steadfast companion throughout their life together, as well as his daughter, Nannette Griffith. Their memories remain a cherished aspect of Duke's legacy.

 Duke leaves behind a loving family, including grandsons: Matthew Swearingen, Sr. and his wife, Tara; Eric Swearingen, Jr.; Nicholas Swearingen; and James Griffith, Jr. He also delighted in the company of his granddaughter, Annie Griffith and great-grandchildren: Matthew Swearingen, Jr.; Mason Swearingen; Clayton Swearingen; Tessa Unterbrink; and Kayli Unterbrink.

 The bond he shared with his family reflects the love and warmth that he fostered throughout his life. Duke D. Gibbons will be missed deeply, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

 Funeral Services will be conducted privately.
