Indianapolis - Douglas Rolland Hord, 68, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018.
Doug was born July 6, 1950 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Ernie and Carol Hord. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy where he served in Vietnam. He was also an honorably discharged veteran of the Indianapolis National Guard where he served in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. After 35 years of military service, he retired from active duty in 2005. Additionally, Doug worked for the City of Indianapolis in fleet services until his retirement in 2002.
Doug is survived by his daughter, Amy Spangler and her husband, Jeremy; son, Doug E. Hord; brother, Mike Hord of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren: Jacob Silcox, Gabrielle Hord, Hayden Silcox, Benjamin Spangler, Annabelle Hord and Addison Hord; and many other family members and friends. Doug will be missed by many that loved him.
A celebration of Doug's life will be conducted Sunday, December 16, 2018, from 2 – 6 pm at the American Legion, 327 Main Street, Beech Grove, IN 46107. Military honors will begin at 3 pm.
