INDIANAPOLIS – Dorothy Rose Bantley Walker, 79, passed away at 2:29 AM on Monday, March 27, 2023 at her residence. She was born on July 31, 1943 to the late Frank Walter and Ruth Helena Tuttle Bantley in Martinsville, Indiana. Dorothy married the late Kenneth Walker on December 4, 1964 and then married Larry Spears on March 28, 1981 at Drexel Gardens Christian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1961. Professionally, Dorothy worked as a claims adjuster from 1961 to 2006 for the United States Government primarily in the VA affairs department. She was a lifelong member of Drexel Gardens Christian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana where she was treasurer for 30 years. Dorothy was also a Beta Sigma Phi alumna. In her leisure time, she would read and play online games. She enjoyed and cherished watching her granddaughters grow up. Dorothy loved traveling and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Bradley Alan Walker; her daughter, Wendy Kay Grant and her husband, Donald; and her granddaughters, Jessica and Elizabeth Grant. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands, Kenneth Walker and Larry Spears and her brother, Jack Bantley.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Mt. Gilead Church, 6019 East State Road 144, Mooresville, Indiana 46158 with Pastor Gary Lynch officiating. Friends and family are invited for food and drinks at the reception from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM prior to the memorial service.
