Donald Ray Waddell

Donald Ray Waddell, 88, born on December 20, 1936, in St. Charles, Virginia, peacefully departed this life on February 5, 2025, in Indianapolis. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who touched the lives of many with his warm demeanor and kind spirit.

Donald was known for his easygoing personality and cheerful disposition; his belief that "he never met a stranger" reflected his welcoming nature. He approached life with a genuine smile and an open heart, making connections wherever he went. Donald enjoyed simple pleasures, including going out for rides to enjoy treats, and he was passionate about hunting and fishing, which brought him joy and relaxation.

On August 8, 1959, Donald proudly married his beloved wife, Della Faye (Grubb) Waddell. Together, they shared a remarkable journey of love and commitment, standing side by side for 65 wonderful years. Their partnership was a testament to dedication and mutual respect, and they built a family that brought great joy to Donald's life. He took immense pride in his children, David and Darrell Waddell, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Amanda and Courtney.

Donald is also survived by his loving sisters, Faye Waddell-Ketron and Shirley J. Waddell-Roddy, along with nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Dock and Lillie (Moore) Waddell, his brother. Delmar L. Waddell, and his son, Danny Waddell, whom he fondly remembered.

The memory of Donald Ray Waddell will be honored with a visitation on February 13, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Indianapolis. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery, where his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His cheerful spirit and love for life will be profoundly missed, but his impact on those he loved will forever inspire and uplift them.
