Indianapolis - Donald Ray "Don" Carter, 79, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017.
Mr. Carter was born April 14, 1938 in Westmoreland, TN. Prior to his retirement in 2005, he was employed by Amtrak where he served as a welder. He loved the outdoors, particularly fishing and gardening.
Mr. Carter is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Barbara Carter; daughters, Sheila Smith and Donna Santos; son, Darren Carter; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.
Mr. Carter's family will receive friends Monday, November 13, 2017, from 5 – 8 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will be conducted Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at 10 am at the funeral home.
