Indianapolis - Derek Scott Doty, 31, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. He was the son of Robert Doty and Gina (Samson) Stowe. Derek was born on August 15, 1989 in Traverse City, Michigan.
He graduated from Traverse City Central High School, class of 2008. Derek earned his Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling at Western Michigan University. He also completed training in software development online through Thinkful.
Derek enjoyed woodworking and playing board games. He loved riding his motorcycle, science, space and most of all spending time with his children.
He is survived by his loving wife of 6 years, Katy (Fiallo) Doty; his loving children, Dominic and Eliana Doty; his parents, Gina Stowe and her husband Robert and Robert Doty and his wife Kay; his sister, Mary Jane Samson; his brothers, Bradley Doty and Cody Stowe; and his nephew, Yonjiro and niece, Aiden.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Michigan.
