Martinsville - Debra Kay Sims, 62, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 23, 2022. She was born May 15, 1959 in Indianapolis, IN to Naomi Carol Froman Sullivan and the late Willard Leo Simpson. She graduated from Decatur Central High School in 1976. She was employed by the small claims court in Decatur Township where she served in administration.
Debra also served as a school bus driver, cleaned houses and worked for Hindle Stone, Allison Payment Systems and Herf Jones' office. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, collecting knives and horseback riding. She loved Bible study, family gatherings, jewelry, shopping and giving to those in need. She also enjoyed trips to Florida, traveling and texting, talking and spending time with family and friends. Additionally, she loved a great deal, Hallmark movies, soap operas and rummaging around garage sales and thrift stores. Some of her fondest memories were made on the family farm.
Debra was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Sims; father, Willard Simpson; and step-father, Mike Sullivan. She is survived by her beloved sons, Tommy, Harley and Nolen Sims; sister, Teresa; brother, Jeff; grandchildren: Lilly, Jacob, Joshua, Zane, and Kinley; cousin who was more like a sister, Sheri Rooker; Nolen's father and special friend, Robert Thomas; and many other beloved family members and dear friends.
Debra's family will receive friends Friday, April 29, 2022, from 1 – 3 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of her life will follow at 3 pm with Pastor Tim Roller officiating. A committal service will be conducted Monday, May 2, 2022 at 12 pm at Catron Cemetery in Somerset, KY.
