Daryl L. Woods

Daryl Woods, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2017.
Daryl was born on November 18, 1931 to Joe and Marie (Jeffers) Woods in Ellery, Illinois. After graduating from Edwards County High School Daryl joined the United States Army serving during the Korean War. Daryl and his family moved to Indianapolis after he came home from his time in the service. He went to work for Western Electric and ended his career as a Warehouse Manager after 31 years with the company. In his free time he enjoyed working in his garden and you could find him at the local farmers markets, raising and showing his Arabian Horses, spending time with his family.

Daryl is survived by his wife of 66 years: Caroll (Bennett) Woods; daughters and sons-in-law: Donna Cummings of Beech Grove, Debbie and Andy Held of Indianapolis, Susie and John Gibbs of Indianapolis; sister: JoAnn Gaither of Grayville, IL; aunt: Elsie Williams; grandchildren: Jolene, Shad, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Andrew; 7 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents and his brother: Don Edward Woods.

Visitation will be on November 8, 2017 from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Newcomer - Indianapolis Chapel, 925 E. Hanna Ave., IN 46227. His funeral service will be conducted on Thursday at 11 A.M. with interment to follow at Acton Cemetery.
