Daniel Steven Tolan, Sr.

Indianapolis - Daniel Steven Tolan, 74, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023. He was born January 8, 1949 in Indianapolis to the late George Tolan and Jessalynn Golden Tempke. Daniel graduated from Manual High School. He was employed in the masonry industry where he served as a bricklayer. His hobbies included fishing, gambling and watching movies. While he had many interests, his favorite pastime was spending time with the family he loved.

Daniel was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Tolan; father, George Willard Tolan, Sr.; mother, Jessalynn Golden Tempke; brothers: John, George and Mike Tolan; sister, Melissa Tempke; and sons, Christopher Poole and David Tolan, Sr. He is survived by his sons, George Tolan, III and Daniel Tolan; daughters: Jessalynn Glaser, Francia Duncan, Anita Lewis, Amber Poole and Latoya Whitlock; sister, Pat Estell; 33 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many other beloved family members and friends.

Daniel’s family will receive friends Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 10 am - 12 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will be conducted at 12 pm. A committal service will follow at New Crown Cemetery, 2101 Churchman Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46203.
