Dana Margaret Short

Dana Margaret Short, age 68, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Methodist Hospital. She was born February 20, 1953 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Daniel G. and Luara Jane Neely.

Dana grew up and attended school on the east side of Indianapolis. She is survived by two children; Sherri Lynn booker and Gail Lee Booker, Jr. Dana was later married to Stephen Short.

Dana worked in various customer service positions, most recently at the Beech Grove VFW Post 5626 and Dollar Tree store. She had a caring and gregarious nature and was known to have never met a stranger. Dana will be remembered for never failing to send birthday, holiday and special greeting cards to family and friends and her joy in celebrating those special occasions. Dana loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed vacationing in Florida, the beach and playing the lottery. Dana will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Dana was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel G. and Luara Jane Neely and her brother, Larry J. Neely. She is survived by her husband, Stephen Short; daughter, Sherri Booker; son, Gail L. Booker, Jr.; granddaughters, Shyanne Marie - lynn Hobbs and Kandice (Cameron) Henry ; grandsons, Justin (Breyanna) Booker, Greydon Booker, and Van (Cari) Hobbs III; great grandchildren, Jamie, Justin and Janelle; sister, Shirley (William) Carver; brother, Danny (Patricia) Neely; and her much loved cats, Fifi and Kiki.

Dana's friends and family may visit from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Minister Jerry Dickinson officiating at the funeral home.
