Dakota Michael Catron

Dakota Michael Catron, a proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away May, 11, 2024. The son of Clause “Rich” III and Linda (Thompson) Catron. Dakota grew up in Beech Grove, Indiana. He was born October 21, 1991 in Indianapolis, IN, and attended Beech Grove High School.

In 2011, Dakota enlisted in the Army and served until 2015. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Private First Class in Attack Helicopter Repairs. As part of this service, Dakota earned the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Army Achievement Metal (2nd Award), Good Conduct, National Defense, Global War on Terrorism Service, Army Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Basic Aviation Badge, Expert Marksmanship and served in Afghanistan in a designated imminent danger area.

Dakota’s loved ones will remember him as a loving, caring person with a heart of gold who would do anything for anyone.

In his spare time, Dakota could be found fishing, playing with the dogs or running. Music was a large part of his life. When he wasn’t writing his own songs or singing, you could guarantee there was music in the background creating the soundtrack to his life.

Above all, Dakota loved his dog, Luna, his nieces and nephews and his country.

Dakota is survived by his parents: Clause “Rich” III and Linda (Thompson) Catron, siblings, Elizabeth A. (Daniel) Wright and Zachary J. Catron; aunts and uncles, Emily Miles, Donna (Doug) Thompson Nylander, Catherine Denny, Robert Catron, Jeff (Mary) Catron and Randy Catron; nieces and nephews, Derek Maryfield, Zacchary Catron, Jr, Nevaeh and Bentley Catron, Elijah, Micah, Noah, Issac and Jacob Wright and MyKal Denny. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Zena Thompson; grandfather, Claude Catron; and aunts, Joyce Hafer and Pamela Monigg.

Dakota’s friends and family may visit from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The funeral ceremony will be held immediately following at 2:00 PM.
