Cynthia Sue Steward

Cynthia Sue "Cindy" Steward, age 69 of Sheridan, IN passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She entered the arms of Jesus following many years of pain. Cindy was born June 6, 1952 in Galesburg, IL to Floyd and Evelyn Riggs. She graduated from Galesburg Sr. High School. Cindy then attended Gulf Coast Bible College in Houston, TX and Stenotype Institute in Indianapolis. Cindy loved going to NSPIRE Church and was involved with as much as her health allowed. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, bird watching, and watching old Westerns on television. Her career spanned many years as an executive secretary and legal secretary. She was sought after because of her excellent skills and personality.

Anyone who knew Cindy loved her. She never met a stranger and she made it a point to greet everyone with a smile or compliment. It was very important to her to have people know that they were seen and they mattered to her. Cindy was sweet, kind, giving, gave the best hugs, and made perfect chocolate chip cookies. She had a wonderful sense of humor and could make anyone laugh at her crazy antics, faces, and one liners. Cindy had a beautiful singing voice and sang in church from age 3 through adulthood. She was a lover of people, her children, grandchildren, family, dogs, church, and most of all her Savior, Jesus. Cindy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose strong faith and love leaves a legacy that will carry on for many generations.

Cindy is survived by 2 children, Jeremy Steward of Indianapolis and Megan (Bradley) Phelps of Shelbyville; 6 grandchildren, Raven Steward, Chloe Johnson, Joshua Phelps, Elijah Phelps, Hezekia Phelps, and Isabella Phelps; 2 sisters, Marla Hood of Noblesville and Sheryl Myers of Sheridan; best friend, Cat Wolting; her constant companion Shih Tzu, "Zoey"; and many nieces and nephews. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Joshua David Steward; and her children's father, Lebon Steward.

A memorial service honoring Cindy's life and faith will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 19, 2022 at NSPIRE Church, 18097 Sun Park Drive, Westfield, IN, with Rev. Matt Gaylor officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am prior to the service at NSPIRE Church. Cindy's remains will be joined with her deceased son, Joshua David Steward in Houston, TX at later date. Memorials and flowers may be sent to NSPIRE Church in Westfield.
