GREENWOOD – Craig Alan Capps, 65, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at his residence. He was born on June 11, 1958 to the late Fred Vernon and Dorothy Mae (Reuter) Capps in Beech Grove, Indiana.
Craig graduated from Center Grove High School 1976 and then briefly attended IUPUI. Professionally, he worked at Asphalt Patching Co. for decades before starting his own small business, Capps Asphalt.
Most notably, Craig was a phenomenal guitar player and doting family man. He was an excellent cook, avid news watcher, and Colts enthusiast. He was always ready for Football Season. He loved music, the glory days of the STUTZ band and McAllister, extra ice, and a good-looking pair of shoes.
Craig had an incredible way of seeing the positive in life. He had a hilarious sense of humor and contagious laugh. He took care of his own and always took in others as if they were his family. Craig’s heart was too big for this earth, and his genuine kindness will forever be imprinted on all the lives he touched.
Craig is survived by his loving daughters, Ashley Capps and her partner, Brock Ackerman and Brittany Capps; his brothers: Jeff Capps and his wife, Tammy Malone, Brian Capps and his significant other, Marry Norris, Kevin Capps and his wife, Lynda and Eric Roberts and his wife, Jackie; his grandchildren, Carter and Nola Ackerman; and his aunt, Valis Moore; as well as other aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved grandchildren from a previous blended family. In addition to his parents, Craig was preceded in death by his step-father, Millard (Max) Roberts.
Craig’s friends and family may visit from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Jerry Ridge officiating. Graveside services will take place at 1:00 PM (CDT) on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Groce Family Cemetery, Burkesville, Kentucky.
