Brownsburg, IN

JoAnne Horn, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025, in Danville, Indiana, at the age of 81. Born on May 21, 1943, in Sullivan, Indiana, JoAnne's life was one richly woven with love, hard work, and dedication to family.

JoAnne worked tirelessly on the family farm, where she instilled the values of perseverance and hard work in her family. She briefly lent her strength and tenacity to the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility, highlighting her commitment to her community. An accomplished student, she earned her associate's degree from Ivy Tech in 1994, a testament to her belief in the importance of education and lifelong learning.

Her interests were just as diverse as her talents; JoAnne found joy in reading, knitting, crocheting, and sewing, pouring her heart into creating beautiful pieces for her loved ones. She had a special knack for making every moment spent with family memorable, often sharing her time bird watching and simply enjoying watching people around her. Most of all, JoAnne's profound love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was the light of her life. They were her pride and joy, filling her world with laughter and warmth.

JoAnne is survived by her beloved son, Mickey Horn and his wife, Johnana; daughters, Paula Horn and Michelle Lyday; sister, Iris Bell; grandsons: Petey Horn and his significant other, Amanda Crosswhite, John Michael Horn and his wife, Shalicia, and Tracy Horn and his wife, Jessica, granddaughter, Kendra Hanson and her husband, Chris; and her treasured great-grandchildren: Michael, McKinleigh, Hunter, Maverick, and Emilynn.

JoAnne now joins in eternal rest her devoted husband, Sanford Michael Horn; her daughter, Kelly Kister; her brother, Kenneth Crites, Jr.; her granddaughter, Megan Lyday; and her great-grandson, Mitchell Horn. Though she may be gone from our sight, her spirit and the love she so freely gave will forever echo in the hearts of her family and friends.

In reflecting on JoAnne's life, we find solace in the cherished memories shared and the indelible impact she made on everyone lucky enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered. JoAnne's family requests that memorial contributions be made in her honor to the charity of your choice that fights to cure juvenile diabetes.
