Mooresville - Clyde Donald Thatcher, 87, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018.
Mr. Thatcher was born July 16, 1930 in Worthington, IN to the late Floyd and Helen Thatcher. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy where he served in Korea. Prior to his retirement in 1995, he was employed as a job setter by Ford Motor Company's Indianapolis plant where he served for 38 years. Mr. Thatcher was a member of Decatur Township Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting and wood working as well as coaching baseball for his children's and grandchildren's teams. He was known as "Grandpa" to the Avon, IN track and cross country teams.
Mr. Thatcher was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary Bays Thatcher; 13 brothers and sisters; and a great grandson, David Alan Mason. He is survived by his daughters, Marsha Williamson and her husband, Doug of Mobile, AL and Beth Beasley and her husband, Max of Crossville, TN; son, Clyde David Thatcher of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, John Williamson III of AL, Cameron Williamson and his wife, Carla of AL, Hayley Roberts and her husband, Kenny of AL, Jenni Thatcher and her husband, Bram of IN, Christopher Beasley and his wife, Leslie of FL and Jarrett Beasley of IN; great grandchildren, Abigail Williamson of AL, Valorie, Ansley, Cadence, Kamryn and Zola Roberts of AL, Aleczander Meadows of IN, Azalea Ashland of IN and Ayden, Colton and Grayson Beasley of FL; sister, Kathryn Fulk Thatcher of IN; and brother, Howard Thatcher of FL.
Mr. Thatcher's family will receive friends Friday, March 23, 2018, from 4 – 8pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will be conducted Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 10 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Pleasant Bethel Cemetery in Freedom, IN.
