Indianapolis - Clyde Holton, 80, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2021. He was born May 28, 1940 in Hustonsville, KY to the late Walter and Della Smith Holton. He married the love of his life, Birdie Jane Carter, on June 9, 1961.
Clyde worked at Casey Corporation and Poindexter Excavating as an Operating Engineer. He retired from I.U.O.E. Local 103 in 2002. He was a member of the Crown Victoria Association and frequented many car shows. His 1955 Ford Crown Victoria won many awards.
Clyde enjoyed throwing horseshoes, playing corn hole, taking daily walks with friends and watching sports. Additionally, he could frequently be seen working fields, tilling gardens, plowing snow and working on cars and tractors. He was always there to help someone in need in any way he could. The time he treasured most was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Birdie Jane Carter Holton; son, Daniel; sisters, Jewell McKee and Alma Koch; and brothers: Lloyd, Otis, and Glenn Holton. He is survived by his son, David Holton: sisters, Judy (David) Poling and Debbie Pedigo; sister-in-law, Susie Holton; brothers, Darris (Betty) Holton and Phillip Holton; grandchildren, Daniel, Alyssa (Aaron), Drew and Shyanne Holton; great-granddaughter, Eryn Daley; and many other beloved family members and friends.
Clyde's family will receive friends Friday, February 12, 2021, from 11 am – 1 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will follow at 1 pm at the funeral home. For the health and safety of all guests attending, face masks are required. A committal service will follow at Acton Cemetery, 7900 Acton Road, Indianapolis, IN 46259.
