Charles D. “Chuck” Nelson, age 58, passed away peacefully at his residence on July 2, 2024 after a brief illness. Chuck was born in Indianapolis on November 1, 1965, he was the son of the late Peggy Nelson.
Throughout his working career, Chuck was employed as a stage hand and carpenter for IATSE Local #30 Union. This provided Chuck the opportunity to meet and work with the biggest names in the music and entertainment business. When Chuck wasn’t hard at work, he would love to ride his Harley and hang out with his Harley family. His Harley family was his true love and passion in life. Chuck was very involved with the Harley ABATE program where he was Regional Director.
Chuck was known for his infectious sense of humor and personality. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all who knew him. He was an avid knife collector and a habitual “prankster” and was constantly playing tricks and scaring people for laughs, usually at their expense! Halloween was Chuck’s favorite holiday and he would plan all year for his famous “haunted house” that was over the top tricked out with frightening decorations, lighting, sound effects and even live actors to scare all who dared to tour the haunted chambers. His haunted house was even rated in the top lists of haunted houses in Marion County. Chuck was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and outdoorsman who enjoyed being on the water boating and fishing and at the end of the day, relaxing at his campsite.
Chuck leaves behind his brothers, Richard (wife Lora) Clement of Indianapolis and Jon Pearse of Washington state; and several loving nieces, nephews and dear friends who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his mother Peggy, Chuck was preceded in death by his loving grandfather who adopted and raised him, Charles F. Nelson; and sister, Francis Maxwell.
Chuck was cremated and the family will later announce the date and location for a Celebration of Life in honor of Chuck.
