Charles Lee Mcnear Sr.

Indianapolis - Charles Lee McNear, Sr., 64, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023. He was born October 4, 1958 in Louisville, KY to Virginia Bowman Bates and the late George McNear. He was employed in the transportation industry where he served as a truck driver for over 35 years. He retired from US Filter in 2007.

Charles' hobbies included hot rodding, building model cars and attending car shows. He loved his "Debbie Honey", children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was up for just about anything as long as he was with his family and he enjoyed road trips. His family described him as a very strong man who was a dad and grandpa to many because he never wanted anyone to do without.

Charles was preceded in death by his ma, Mary Griffin; dad, Charles Griffin; pop, George McNear; grandson, Johnathan Charles McNear-Padilla; son-in-law, Jose Ramon Padilla; and brother, Jesse Ray Bates. He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah McNear; children, Christina "Puddinn-Nany" Padilla and Charles McNear, Jr.; siblings: Mabel (Lance) Hamilton, John (Tonya) Bates, Loretta (Bruce) Routt, Chad Lucas and April McNear; grandchildren: Jose Padilla, II, Ashley (Dallas) Martindale, Cheyenne Padilla, Abigail Padilla, Charles McNear, III and Calee McNear; great grandchildren: Enzo Martindale, Ezai Martindale and Miracle Bickers; and many other loving family members and friends.

Charles' family will receive friends Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 11 am - 1 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will follow at 1 pm at the funeral home. Charles will be laid to rest at Acton Cemetery, 7900 Acton Road, Indianapolis, IN 46259.
