Charles Clay Heagy
March 8, 1964 — May 22, 2021
Indianapolis – Charles Clay "Chuck" Heagy, age 57, passed away at 5:40 AM on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Decatur Township Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born to Ralph E. Heagy and Mary Louise (Flory) Zollner on March 8, 1964 in Indianapolis, IN.
Charles was a graduate of Perry Meridian High School, class of 1982. He was inducted into the United States Army on March 13, 1984 in Indianapolis, Indiana and after receiving advanced training he became a Cannon Crewman. Charles was honorably discharged on February 13, 1987 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Charles was also a Rifle M-16 marksman and hand grenade expert. He received the Army service ribbon and overseas service ribbon. Charles spent a few years in the Army Reserves and retired with the rank of Private First Class.
His hobbies were painting, fishing and sports. Charles was an avid Pacers and Colts fan. He enjoyed watching the Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune on television. Also, he enjoyed playing games and facetiming friends and family. Charles loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He cherished his time with his family.
He is survived by his loving children, Brandon and Leslie Heagy; his siblings: Debbie Miller, David Heagy, Charlene Spicer, Ralph Heagy, Gloria Courtney, Keith Heagy, Michelle Williams and Sheryl Beach; his father, Ralph E. Heagy; and his grandchildren, Faith Marie Heagy, Anjelica Crist and Shane Majors. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise Zollner and sister, Maeeta Sylvia.
The family would like to thank the VA Hospital in Indianapolis for their care and assistance with Charles.
Charles' family will receive friends on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 11 – 12 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis IN 46227. A celebration of his life will take place at 12 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Agal officiating. Burial will follow at 2 PM at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis IN 46250.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Volunteers of America, (614) 253 – 6100.
