Charles J. Froman Sr., fondly known as "Diamond Charlie," passed away on March 8, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 86. Born on October 13, 1938, in Marston, Missouri, he lived a life filled with love, hard work, and cherished memories.
Charles dedicated many years of his life to his career at GM Truck and Bus, from which he retired, but his passion for engaging with the community continued as he spent numerous years selling fireworks. His larger-than-life personality and warmth endeared him to many, and he was known for bringing joy wherever he went.
A devoted family man, Charles loved his family dearly and held a special closeness with his brother and sisters. His ability to bring smiles to their faces was notable; he often visited family and friends bearing gifts from his treasured collections. Everyone knew as soon as they saw Charlie, they were about to receive a gift or buy fireworks.
Charles is remembered by his loving family, which includes his sons, Charles Jesse (Kelly) Froman Jr., Darren (Kim) Froman, and Christopher E. Froman, along with his step-children, Gary Gabbard and Teresa Welch. He was a proud grandfather to 7 grandchildren, a loving great-grandfather to 19 great-grandchildren, and a delighted great-great grandfather to 3 great-great grandchildren. His sisters, Louise (Joe) Williams, Naomi (Mike) Sullivan, and sister-in-law, Eva Froman, continue to carry the memory of their beloved brother.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie O. and Irene Froman; his wife Carol Ann Froman; his second wife, Wondill Froman; his brother, Albert "Dee" Froman, and two grandchildren.
