Cedric L. Wilkerson

Cedric L. "Ced" Wilkerson, age 65 of Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Community Hospital East. He was born March 29, 1957 in Beech Grove, Indiana the son of Bevely and Aline (Price) Wilkerson. Ced was a 1975 graduate of Beech Grove High School. He married Sandy Taylor in 2007. He worked many years in manufacturing, first for RCA, then Sony, Poligram, (as the business changed names) and later retired from AmeriCold. He was very involved in his union, UAW 761 and even served as the president for many years. Ced was a hard worker and enjoyed helping others as much as he could. He loved sports, both playing and watching. Ced was a member of a baseball league through work for many years. He liked to watch NASCAR and Purdue basketball. Ced was very proud of his grandchildren and would always share stories of all of their accomplishments with his friends. More than anything, Ced loved his family and spending time with everyone.

Ced is survived by his wife, Sandy Wilkerson; brother, Elbert Wilkerson; step-daughter, Brenda (Pete) Tabor; brother-in-law, Doug (Sandy) Taylor; and 4 grandchildren, Zach, Madison, McKinnah and Brendan.

Ced is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marcella Baxter; and twin-brother, Fredrick Wilkerson.

The family of Cedric will be having a memorial service on Sunday, March 19, 2023 in Room A at the Hornet Park Community Center, 5245 Hornet Avenue, Beech Grove, IN 46107. The visitation time will be from 2:00 – 4:00 pm, with a service following at 4:00 PM. Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions is honored to handle Cedric's cremation wishes.
