Catherine L. Wheeler

Catherine L. Wheeler, age 80 of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born February 23, 1942 in Parke County, Indiana the daughter on Wallace R. and Martha V. (Myers) Kent. She was a graduate of Rosedale High School. For over 20 years, she worked in production at Jenn Air. Catherine married the love of her life, Roy "Rusty" Wheeler on October 8, 1960 and they shared over 55 years of marriage together until his passing in 2015. She was very social in going shopping, going to the casino and going out to get food and drinks with her friends. Catherine liked to travel out west to see the mountains and go to Indian Reservations. She enjoyed being outdoors soaking up the sun and taking care of her flowers. Catherine always put her family first and had a kind heart for all children, especially her great-grandchildren. More than anything, Catherine loved her family and never met a stranger.

Catherine is survived by her son, Roy (wife Elaine) Wheeler, Sr.; 2 sisters, Louise Martin and Charlotte Bratcher; 3 grandchildren, Roy (wife Joann) Wheeler, Jr., Tabatha (husband Anthony) McLemore and Tamara Patterson; 6 great-grandchildren, Roy "Tommy", Gracie, Shailyn, Caleb, Levi and Allyssa; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Catherine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy "Rusty" Wheeler; daughter, Vickie Wheeler; and many brothers and sisters.

A memorial service celebrating Catherine's life will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions at 925 East Hanna Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46227. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Please continue to support Catherine's family during these difficult times.
