Catherine Therese Hicar

Columbus - Catherine Therese Hicar, 80, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017. Catherine was born June 13, 1936 in Cleveland, OH. She retired after many years of service as a manager in the manufacturing industry. Catherine was a devout Catholic. She was very involved in several organizations including the Oblates Mission, the Sacred Heart and Our Lady of the Snows. Her family described her as an avid reader who loved the outdoors. She also enjoyed travelling and spent many happy years in Port Clinton at the family's lakeside property.

Catherine was preceded in death by her sons, Joseph L Hicar and Richard C. Hicar. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 62 years, Joseph S. Hicar. Catherine is also survived by her daughters, Cheryl Carnevale and her husband, Al, Cynthia Trefny and her husband, Chuck and Carolyn Roth and her husband, Mark; son, Daniel Hicar and his wife, Barb; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and many other loving family members and dear friends.

A celebration of Catherine's life will be conducted Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 1:00 pm at the Lakeside Terrace Community Center, 9140 Sandpiper Drive, Streetsboro, OH 44241. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made, in Catherine Hicar's memory, to St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 1306 27th Street, Columbus, Indiana 47201.
