Bruce Duane Cox

May 15, 1936 — September 19, 2020

Bruce Duane "Buck" Cox, 84, of Indianapolis passed away on September 19, 2020 at Kindred Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born on May 15, 1936 to George K. and Rebecca (Edwards) Cox. He was a graduate of Arsenal Tech High School. Buck worked in Plant Inspection for Western Electric for over thirty-two years prior to his retirement. While working at Western Electric, he met his future wife, and in 1956 he married Marilyn Kay Ginder; they were married for over sixty-four years. Buck served in the United States Army Reserve for eight years and received an Honorable Discharge on October 3, 1965.

To his family, Buck was also known as "Uncle Bucky". He welcomed this special nickname as his family was one of the most important things to him. In addition to "Buck" and "Uncle Bucky", Bruce was also known as "Happy the Gospel Clown", and he enjoyed sharing his talents at hospitals, long-term care facilities and parties. Buck was also known for playing Santa Claus as well, and occasionally Marilyn would join him as Mrs. Claus.

Those who knew Buck, knew him as a very patriotic person who loved his country. Many might know that he loved to play golf and visit the beach. In fact, Buck and Marilyn kept a small home in Bradenton, FL where they could spend the winters. And of course spending the winter in Florida allowed Buck the chance to golf year-round and visit the beach.

Buck was also passionate about supporting the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital. Buck helped fund raise and found many different ways in which he could support the mission at Peyton Manning. Finally, Buck was a member of the Indianapolis Harley-Davidson Club.

Those left to cherish the memory of Buck are his wife, Marilyn K. (Ginder) Cox; children: Jeff (Carolyn) Cox, Diane (Steven) Cheney, Kim (Tim) Foster and Darin (Pamela) Cox; grandchildren: Mandy, Lauren, Matt, Kyle, Logan, Annie, Jared, Melanie, Dakota, Keith and Anthony; great grandchildren: Lindsey, McKenzie, Tyler, Hayden, Hadley, Maddox, Landry and Ben; brother and sister: Janet Reese and Bill Cox. Buck was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Toby, Marilyn and Lula.
