Indianapolis – Bradley George Kristel, 86, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024. He was born January 7, 1938 in Schenectady, New York to the late George and Magdalon Kristel. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in Schenectady, New York before venturing off to the United States Army where he belonged to the 101st Airborne Unit earning the title of Specialist 4th Class, E-4. Bradley was a proud veteran and was happy that he served our country. Additionally, Brad went to Indiana University at IUPUI in Indianapolis, Indiana, earning his Business Degree. He married his lifelong love, Carol Edwards on January 31, 1959 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Indianapolis, IN.
Brad was the founder of Kristel’s Tax Professionals, where he had a flourishing career of 52 years, finishing both his career and his final tax season this year, 2024. Brad was not only known as a hard worker himself, but was a strong and caring leader in the work place having one co-worker that worked by his side for 50 years, many others 35+ years. As for his customers, many stayed well over 30 and 40 years.
Brad’s family described him as honest, hardworking, generous and kind adding that he was the most selfless person anyone has ever met. He was charitable and compassionate and devoted.
He had many hobbies including woodworking, golfing, building decks and making the perfect gift for people. More than anything else, Brad enjoyed spending time with his family. Brad was the center of the family’s heart and a strong patriarch. It was important to him that the family bond stay strong across all the generations. He made sure there was a family vacation every year that he went out of his way to plan and pay for to ensure all family members could attend! Everyone knew that God and his family always came first.
In addition to his parents, Brad was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Margaret and his sister-in-law, Barbara. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol (Edwards); children, Randy, Dawn (Allen), David (Mindy), Sharon (David), Wendy (Ray), Kimberly (Troy); brothers, Robert (Janet) and Melvyn; grandchildren, Kristel (Tyler) Hall, Emily (Matthew) Hawkins, Samantha Steckman, Garrett Norman, Neil Kristel, Grant Lewis, Madison (Anthony) Childs, Harrison Lewis, Jack Kristel, Matthew Steckman, Hayes Lewis, Savannah Steckman Kenny Steckman and many other beloved family members and dear friends.
In remembrance of Brad’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center, a charity that Brad held close to his heart and donated to annually.
