Avis Louise Kress

Greenwood – Avis Louise (Bays) Kress, 93, passed away at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Grand Brook Memory Care of Greenwood, Indiana. She was born on March 6, 1928 to the late Elmer Bays and Iris (Dugger) Lagemann in New Goshen, IN.
Avis was united in marriage on June 28, 1947 to the late Jay Kress in Terre Haute, IN.
Avis graduated in 1944 from Alton High School in Alton, IL. In 1984 she received her Bachelor Degree in Management from St. Mary's of the Woods College.
Her hobbies included playing bridge, gardening and reading. Avis loved laughing and caring for her home and family. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, parties and getting together with friends. Avis attended Southport United Methodist Church for many years.
In addition to her parents and husband, Avis was preceded in death by her siblings, Martha Tuttle and Stan Bays. Avis is survived by her loving children, Jan (Ray) Main, Barry (Mary) Kress and Jay (Tamra) Kress; her grandchildren, Megan Alvarado, Paul Main, Melody Robinson and Phil Main; as well as many great and great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Direct memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Hospital in Avis's name.
