Audrey Rachel Gentry

Audrey Rachel Gentry, age 63 of Mooresville, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born March 10, 1959 in Indianapolis, the daughter of John and Audrey (Mosley) Preda. Rachel was a 1978 graduate of George Washington High School. After high school, she worked at Bank One Operations Center in downtown Indianapolis. Rachel met Mark A. Gentry on a blind date set up by friends, and what was to follow that date was a lifetime of love and happiness. They became husband and wife on February 14, 1987 at Waverly Baptist Church and were happily married for over 35 years. Rachel was a member of Waverly Baptist Church where she met many close friends. She liked reading and going to the park where she would take walks and enjoy picnics with her family. Family was the most important part of Rachel's life and she loved nothing more than being with her grandchildren. More than anything, Rachel will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

Rachel is survived by her husband, Mark A. Gentry; 2 children, Charles (wife Chelsi) Gentry and Abigail Gentry; 2 grandchildren, Michael Gentry and Lilly Baker; 3 sisters, Kathy Timm, Rose Napier and Sue Maginity; in-laws, Charles and Janet Gentry; and several nieces and nephews.

Rachel is preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Glenda Gentry.

A funeral service honoring Rachel's life will take place at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Waverly Baptist Church, 7225 Old State Rd 37 N, Martinsville, IN 46151 with Rev. David Ball officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, January 9, 2023 and from 12:00 – 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 both at Waverly Baptist Church. Following the funeral burial will take place at Mooresville Cemetery. Newcomer Funeral Home in Indianapolis is honored to handle Rachel's arrangements.
