Anthony M. Garland

Anthony M. "Tony" Garland, age 34 of Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 30, 2022. He was born February 27, 1988 in Honolulu, Hawaii the son of David L. and Tamara S. (McCombs) Garland. Tony was a 2006 graduate of Decatur High School. On November 1, 2008, Tony married his high school sweetheart, Tonya Holder at New Life Gospel Church in Indianapolis. He worked as a carpenter for Marksmen Construction. Tony was a Golden State basketball fan and an Indianapolis Colts football fan. In 2010, Tony and Tonya welcomed the light of their life Colton Garland into the world. As a family they enjoyed going on many family vacations. Tony loved being a dad and coaching his son in little league baseball and youth basketball. Being a husband and father was Tony's true passion in life and he loved nothing more than to provide for his family.

Tony is survived by his wife, Tonya Garland; son, Colton Garland; parents, David and Tamara Garland; in-laws, Larry and Carolyn Holder; 2 brothers, Nick (wife Amy Jo) McLin and Geoffrey (wife Lacey) Garland; brother-in-law, Bub (Rianne Schultz) Holder; sister-in-law, Danielle Plane; special close cousins, Jeremy McCombs and Ryan McCombs; maternal grandmother, Patricia McCombs; grandparents in-law, Larry and Faye Holder; nieces and nephews, Josh McLin, Daisy McLin, Cecil McLin, Theodore McLin, Kloie McCombs, Madison McCombs, Xander Braun, Xayden Garland, Elaina Garland, Kayden Hazel, Addalyn Holder, Aubrey Holder, Zach Plane and Mason Plane; aunts and uncles, Gerald and Joyce McCombs, Greg McCombs, Dawn Mitchell, Paul McCombs, Kim Johnson, Chris and Jessica McCombs, Jamie Coss, Stan and Beth Holder, Mettia Gibson, Darlene Fugate, Diane and John Spurlock, Earl Weddle and Bill Weddle; and numerous extended cousins, friends and family.

Tony is preceded in death by his brother, Nate McCombs; paternal grandparents, Frank and Betty Garland; maternal grandfather, Eugene McCombs; grandmother in-law, Roanne Hasty.

A funeral service celebrating Tony's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at New Life Gospel Church, 2659 South Lockburn Street, Indianapolis, IN 46241 with Rev. Donnie Gay and Rev. Donnie Gay, Jr. officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 6:00 pm on Monday, July 11, 2022 at New Life Gospel Church and 10:30 to 1:00 pm prior to the service on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at New Life Gospel Church.
