INDIANAPOLIS – Albert Logan Henschen, 82, passed away at 9:58 AM on Monday, January 1, 2024 at his residence. He was born on July 6, 1941 at Coleman Hospital now known as IU Health University Hospital to the late Albert J. and Sally G. (Oaks) Henschen in Beech Grove, Indiana.
Albert graduated from Emmerich Manual High School, class of 1960. He married Constance Lee “Connie” O’Connor on February 17, 1962 at St. James Catholic Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. Professionally, Albert worked as a dryer operator for National Starch and retired in 2005. He was a member of the volunteer fire brigade at National Starch.
His hobbies were fishing, watching western films, camping and swimming. Albert was an avid Indiana Pacers and Colts fan and also a NASCAR enthusiast. He loved his wife and children deeply. Albert was hard working, laid back and extremely easy going.
Albert is survived by his loving children: Michael Albert Henschen, Laura Ann Carter & her husband Wayne, Dianna Lynn Popp and Pamela Sue “Pam” Poynter & her husband Tim; grandchildren: Becky Rojas & her husband Rob, Brad Popp, Jessica McCreary & her husband Dennis, Brian Popp, Tony Carter & his wife Victoria, Eric Henschen & his wife Katie, Chad Carter, Courtney Cope & her husband Conner, Nicholas Henschen, Alyssa Miller, Bobby Poynter & his wife Tiffany and Lisa Walker & her husband Ben; and great grandchildren: Gabe Rojas, Matt Stacey, Ruby Carter, Reese Carter, Raelynn Carter, Jedidiah Carter, Averie Henschen, Charlotte Cope, Benito Alejo, Julian Alejo, Taylor Poynter, Ryen Poynter, Oliver Walker and Henry Walker.
In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Connie Lee Henschen; and siblings: Joseph “Joe” Henschen, Lucy Majors and John Henschen.
Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Tony Carter officiating. Burial will follow at New Crown Cemetery, 2101 Churchman Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46203.
