Nancy A. Nelson

Nancy A. Nelson, age 75 of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2022. She was born August 2, 1947 in Indianapolis the daughter of Clarence Hendrickson and Betty (Mount) Evans. Nancy attended Trafalgar High School. She married the love of her life, Joseph A. Nelson in 1967 and shared over 37 years of marriage together until his passing in 2004. Nancy worked for over 20 years at Western Electric until they closed. After working at Western Electric for many years, Nancy then worked as a certified nursing assistant. Nancy liked playing card games, building puzzles and playing bingo. She had many memorable trips to the casinos with family and friends. Nancy found great joy in being outdoors sitting on her porch, fishing and going camping. She had an incredibly kind heart and could show some of her love in her cooking and baking, especially during the holidays. To Nancy there was nothing more important in her life than her family, and she truly adored her grandbaby and playing games with her.

Nancy is survived by her 4 children, David L. Nelson, Joseph L. (wife Jennifer) Nelson, Mark A. Nelson and Christina A. Nelson; granddaughter, Aniyah Nelson; 5 siblings, Kenny Hendrickson, Sandy Fox, Tommy Hendrickson, Janice Puckett and Susan Wooten; nieces and nephews, Sherry Lynn, Lisa, Shelly, Jimmy, Betty Jo, Jeremy, Megan, Billy, Steve, Danny, Jeffrey, Tony Marie, Christopher and Tiffany; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Hendrickson and Betty Evans; husband, Joseph A. Nelson; and brother, Michael Evans.

A visitation celebrating Nancy's life will take place on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions at 925 East Hanna Ave. Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. Per Nancy's wishes cremation will follow the service. Please continue to support Nancy's family during these trying times.
