John Charles Rhoades

April 27, 1951 — March 4, 2019

Indianapolis - John Charles Rhoades, 67, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019. He was born April 27, 1951 in Logansport, IN to the late John and Ruth Rhoades.

John loved the Rolling Stones and attended many of their concerts. John smiled a lot and had fun joking around with others, especially during the Christmas season. One of the best jokes he played was on his wife. She wanted a 6 carat diamond necklace, and being the joker that he was, he put six carrots on a piece of string and gave it to her.

Many cherished memories of John will live on with his family. He was a good friend to his nephew Brad. They had many deep conversations about the world and how politically correct everything has become and how it is ruining the world. John once said, "One of these days, everything is going to be illegal." Brad laughed at that statement. Many people were able to share laughter with John.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his adored wife; and his step-son, Larry Riddle. He is survived by his brother, Ron (Kelly) Rhoades of Pittsboro; sister, Bonnie Rogers of West Des Moines, IA; step-son, Nathan (Melissa) West of Greenfield; sister-in-law, Terry (Tommy); close niece, Michelle (Brad) Jones of Indianapolis; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Per John's instructions, there will be no public services. Anyone wishing to honor his memory may do so by making a memorial contribution to the Humane Society of Indianapolis, 7929 N Michigan Road Indianapolis, IN 46268.
